Just wanted to share some of our Christmas

with all my blog family & friends.

Next are pictures of some of the gifts I made for this Christmas.

I try to make gifts every year.  I want my family to

know how much I care about them and how much they

mean to me.  I feel that making

 the gifts show them just how much I love them. 

 

 

 These pillows were made for my Mother and step father.

He was in the navy so the two end pillows were for him.

The middle pillow was for my Mother, the center part with the sailboat

actually came from a favorite shirt of hers.  She gave me the piece several

years ago thinking I could use it for something...well I found something

to use it for.

 Next is a pillow I made for my grandson, who has taken up the saxophone.

And is pretty good at it!

 Another pillow was made for one of my granddaughters,

who love sparkle and glitter.

 Another pillow for a grandson made with some

of his favorite fabric - red & black plaid flannel

and an eagle, also a favorite of his.

and the last pillow I made was for another grandson,

who is a Tony Hawk fan.

 

 Next are some picture frame remakes.'

Our dear granddaughter in this picture

loves glitter and peacock feathers and pink.

 

 And this granddaughter loves camo and

pink & black and chevron print and glitter.

 And this grandson is a huge Michael Jordan fan.

So he gets some classic MJ trading cards

and Chicago Bulls emblems.

Last picture frame for one of granddaughters is camo with

a deer head as she wants to learn to hunt. 

NO glitter, she does not like glitter...no way!!!

 

 Next are the quilts.

This one is camo and Duck Dynasty

for one of our grandsons.

This grandson loves Ninja Turtles, Spiderman, and Mickey Mouse.

Making for a quite unique quilt.

And this grandson loves Batman and Superman.

Don't think I have ever made a quilt this colorful before!

More Charity Quilt Blocks

These blocks are for a quilt

that will be going to Ft. Hood.

Either for a person serving in the armed forces

or their family member.

 

These blocks are 12 inch blocks by the name of "Dandy"

The next set of blocks are for a quilt for a child

in a children's hospital here in the United States.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well that's all the quilt blocks I have

committed to make at this time :)

Now I better get some paper crafting done!!!

Never Forget...

September 11, 2001

 

 

 

 

New Look for the Living Room

 

 

The living room was closing in on me...I was choking and getting  Claustrophobic...

I just couldn't take it anymore....AHHHHH. 
There was wall paper from ceiling to floor

complete with border around the middle, and it was print...

OH MY... It just had to go...it had to!!!

 

So now the living room looks like this...

 

Now I can breath...

Some think it is boring, some think it looks like a

hospital....I don't care, it's mine   LOL

and I like it - it is clean and open and bright :)

 

I must admit it was a much bigger project than I thought it would be.

It took 2 days to strip all the wall paper down.

Two days to mud all the holes in the walls and sand.

Then one day to prime it and finally, one day to paint.

If my youngest son and oldest grandson had not stepped up and helped...

I doubt it would be done today!!!

Many, Many, Many "Thanks" to them.  Love you both.

 

 

 

 



 

 

Memories...

Lots of memories, stories, and history in this old cabinet.

To start with the cabinet belonged to my husband's grandmother.

We found it in her basement, after she went to be with the Lord. 

 It was painted white and she had used it
 to store her garden harvests that she canned. 

It still had some green beans and carrots in it when we found it. 

My dear husband doesn't like wood items to be painted...so he

stripped the paint off and did a little repair here and there and "Voila" we have a

display cabinet for more family history.

 

The top shelf holds the afghans that my Mother-in-law

and our daughter, Jennifer have made.

The middle shelf has some quilts I made many years ago

as well as a quilt that my Mother-in-law made.

There is also an afghan that my Great-Grandma Daniels made.

That afghan must be around 65 or 70 years old!!! 

The bottom shelf is stuffed with quilts that my Grandma Gaddis made

and one that my husband Grandma Cummings made.

 

The awesome thing is I actually new each of these Grandmas and was able

to have spent quite a lot of time with each them.  I have been blessed with 

many fond memories and cherished wisdom from them. 

They along with my Mom and Dad are who made me who I am today.

 

Now this wonderful old cabinet and it's contents

has a new home next to the fireplace in my sewing room...

It doesn't get any better than that.

Charity Quilt Blocks

 

One of the Yahoo groups I belong to makes quilts

for several charities.  The members make the blocks,

then mail the blocks to the hostess and she puts them

together and finishes the quilts and then gets them to the

charity she has chosen.

 

I made these blocks over the weekend.  The hostess

ask for colorful, happy blocks using the block called "Beginner's Choice" 

These blocks are on their way to Iceland.

They will become part of a quilt(s) that will be given to Caring.

Then they will be distributed to chronically ill children

ages 0-18 years.  The children will be allowed to choose

the quilt they want :) 

 

I love being able to help in this small way.

Looking forward to many more block making weekends.

More Mini Farm News...

Here is the newest resident at our backyard mini farm.

His name is Mr. Bunny and he belongs to one of our granddaughters.

He is about six months old and still pretty skittish.  

 He was scheduled to be in someone's freezer this week...

but our granddaughter bought him!!!  So now he is

safe and sound and part of our backyard animal family.

 

These are the goats and kittens...

they live together, play together,

eat together, and sleep together.

Too Funny!!!

 



 

This is Bandit, he is our guard cat.

He chases everything out of the yard that doesn't belong here -

raccoons, skunks, other cats, and even dogs...

including a pit bull!!!

 

 

This is Baby.

 

And this is Miss Ivy

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These are the two kittens that live with the goats :)

 

Always something going on in my backyard...I Love It!!!

9 Patch Fall Block Swap

These are the Fall colors I chose for the upcoming Fall 9 Patch Quilt Block swap

that I joined over at Friendship Block Swap Group.

 

I have them all done and was able to mail them today:)

I made 6 of each color, mailed 5 of each and kept 1 for myself.

Looking forward to receiving 25 Fall Blocks in the next couple of weeks.

I think they will make a beautiful table topper for Fall.

Doll Quilt Swap

 

This is the beautiful Doll Quilt I received from Patty

from The Doll Quilters Blog Group. 

She also included the very pretty clutch style purse.

She is so very talented and a wonderful quilter.

 

 

 

I will be using the "doll quilt" for a table runner

on my dining room table :)

Summer Fun Swap

 

On one of the Yahoo quilt groups to which I belong,

we did a fun scavenger hunt type  swap

called "SUMMER FUN".  The idea is to find one item

 for each of the letters in "SUMMER FUN",

then you are assigned a partner,

 and you mail the items to her.

  The picture shows all the wonderful goodies

 I received from my swap partner, Patty.

Hope she enjoyed her box as much as I enjoyed mine.

 

 

S is for Scrap bucket

M is for Micro-tip applicator

M is for Magnifier for the sewing machine

E is for Easy rounded Dresden Plate Templates

R is Rainbow Thread

 

F is for Fan for my purse

U is for Utensil fabric

N is for Nail file

 

 

Patty also include a little purple and white checked item which could be used as a jar cover or a little hat or whatever else one might decide.  I chose a hat for my sewing room buddy :)

 

Looking forward to the next "themed" swap.

They are always a lot of fun...looking for items for each letter

 as well as seeing what everyone else comes up with for the letters.

The next will probably be around Christmas or maybe New Years :)

Surprise in the Mail.....

I belong to a wonderful Facebook group,

filled with lots of very sweet people. 

On the group we have a Secret Sister Gift Exchange.

This month I received this very much appreciated

box of goodies.  Love the kitchen theme my Secret Sister went with:)

Fun, Fun, Fun Stuff.

Baking Done...

 

The weather cooled down a little

so I thought I would do some baking,

Haven't done much lately, so I thought

I would try a couple new thing...

 

 

These are some Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies.

They were, to my surprise, very good.

The only difference I noticed was that they were crispy.

All that really matters is that my dear husband likes them,

he is the Chocolate Chip cookie lover...

they passed the test with flying colors:)

Next was a Chocolate Bundt Cake...

This is a double chocolate cake with chocolate pudding filling and

chocolate drizzle icing... Now this would be my field of

expertise... OH MY, this cake definitely passed the test with me!!!!

 





More Crafting

This is a little wall hanging I made for a swap in June. 
I found the pattern in this year's August/September issue
of McCall's Quick Quilts magazine.  It is called "Poppy".   I was pleased with the way it turned out.  I wanted something to represent the theme of "Gardens".  Hoping the lady that received it was pleased :)

Next are the Paper Pieced items I made for a swap

 on a Scrapbook Swap Group I belong to.

My favorite is the raccoon.  Made them all with the Cricut :)

Mini Farm Update....

Remember this picture from a couple months ago...well the weather finally cooperated and I was able to enlist some painting help from my youngest son...

So now the mini farm is all painted and looks like this.......

And I am very happy that this project is completed :)

Another thing that makes me happy

 is that some of the new chicks have started laying!!!!
