The Playhouse...Now Re-purposed...

Many many years ago this was built for our 2 youngest children.
It then sat vacant for a few years...
Then the grandchildren began arriving and it was put to use again.
Now most of the grands have outgrown it...so it has become homes for the backyard animals.

Both sections have now been painted barn red and new green metal roofs added.
The bottom section belongs to the ducks and the top section has been placed in the goat pen.
Everyone is very happy!!!

Around My Yard This Summer

Flowers along the front of the house.

More flowers.

Chicken pen flowers.
The chicks like a little beauty & color too.

The ducks are now laying eggs.
We have a pair of each breed.
We have named them Donald & Daisy
and Mr. Waddles & Matilda.

Our kittens are growing by leaps & bounds,

This year's garden did very well for us.
Had plenty for ourselves as well as enough to share
with family and sell at the local farmer's market.

Our New Baby Goats

Our 4 new goats have stolen my heart!
I'm pleased to introduce...

We have Maggie, Penelope, Violet and Sweets.
Love these silly little babies.

Backyard Fun

Added flowers to the chicken area.
Love to look out my kitchen window
and see my chickens, but adding the flowers
makes it an even more beautiful picture to me.

The ducks have now moved outside.
I think they a much happier...
I know I am!!!

I did get the garden planted and it
is growing...hoping for enough for our needs,
as well as enough to share with family & friends
and some to sell at Farmer's Market.

Hope to share more later.

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Catching Up...

Today's Spring storm brought with it some pea to marble size hail...
which I had the joy of driving home in...Yeah!!!

We have also been able to get the garden ready for planting,
thanks to my wonderful grandson :)  He did this 2 weeks ago,
and we did plant over the past few days.  Now concerned about how the seeds
and plants will survive today's storm...

And we have added ducks to the backyard mini farm!!!
Well they aren't exactly in the backyard just yet...
another couple weeks and they will be :)
Right now they just like to eat & swim.
The yellow ones are just beginning to get their "Quack",
so very cute!!

Haven't had time to get any sewing accomplished, but hoping to very soon.
Farmer's Market will be opening in about 3 weeks, and I'm
looking forward to that.  I have some herbs planted to sell and of course I
will have eggs and maybe some baked goods and crafts items.

Hugs & Blessings.

More Chicks...

I had decided that I wasn't going to purchase anymore
baby chicks this year.  Thought I would stop with the 12
I bought last month.  I was so proud of myself, not going to over due.
But then the unimaginable happened...
My husband, who supposedly doesn't share my love of chickens,
decided I needed 6 more!!!

So I now have 2 Rhode Island Reds and 4 Red Stars
to add to the backyard mini farm too.
I have to admit I wasn't at all upset with
these new arrivals :)

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

That Time Of Year...

I love this time of the year!!!
I have a dozen new baby chicks.
So you know you will be getting weekly
updates on my new arrivals.

Hopefully soon we will be seeing some new baby goats...
and maybe, just maybe one or two will join our
backyard mini farm :)

I have also started planning the garden,
only on paper at this time, but soon,
very soon I will be out playing in the dirt!!!

Just another sign that Spring is on the  way.

What's Been Going On Here...

The view from my back door.
The Fall colors are beautiful,
and the cool, crisp, clean air is amazing!!!
We even had some frost last week.

This morning I went out to feed and found
these adorable little babies in the small barn.
Yes, more kittens...we had planned to get Miss Ivy fixed
but we did not get it down before she came back in heat.
I believe a visit to the vet will be her Christmas gift.

And here are a couple sewing projects I have done...
The Mug Rug above and a reversible apron below.

But mostly I have just been enjoying the beautiful Fall scenery and weather!!!

Blessings,
Terry

A Walk Around My Yard...

Happy September!!!
Just took a walk around the around the yard
and thought I'd share a few pictures...

Mums that are planted across the front of the house.
Think I need to add a few more this year.
The hope is that they will spread and I won't
need to do any weeding.

My precious Oreo getting ready for a walk.
He has such a sweet nature.

Two granddaughters walking the goats.
Not sure who enjoys this more, the girls,
or the goats, or me watching it all.

My little Lucy, she is such a loving little kitty.

Mr. Tiger is turning out to be quite the hunter and clown :)

Part of today's egg collecting.  I usually get
12- 14 eggs a day.  Love visiting with the my chicks
and my two roosters.

Last of this year's garden bounty.
The spaghetti and butternut squash did
amazingly well this year.

I do love my little "piece of the world"
as well as all of my animals.
God has richly blessed me.

Now that Garden season is over, I will
be getting back to some crafting!!!!

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Catch Up Time...Again

Wow, it has been almost a month since my last entry!!!
My sister-in-law pointed that out to me yesterday,
thank you Miss Janet :)
So here goes...it has been a busy month in many different directions.

First of all my brother is moving to Florida  :(
That in itself is very hard for me, we have not been apart
for many years, but I understand that he needs to make this move.
He has been raising Lady Gouldin Finches, but
he didn't they would make the move well
so he gave them to me....

So I have 9 of these little beauties.  I had not had them a week
when two decided it was time to mate...

So they have been separated and a nesting box set up.
The male did all the nest building.  I provided him with
coconut hair and he did a fine job.

Then the female laid 1 egg a day for five days.
They look like jelly beans :)

Now we wait for about 3 weeks and hopefully 5 little finches will hatch out!

My brother also gave me a pair of Cordon Blue Finches.

Now besides these cutie pie indoor birds, I also
was given a new rooster, Richard and 2 new hens.

They are now adjusting to their new home :)

Next up is updated pictures of the kittens

Miss Lucy

Simba

Tiger & Dot
So much fun watching them grow and play.
The other 5 have new homes :)

Now for the work part of the past month...
The Garden = Canning & Freezing...OH MY!!!

24 jars of salsa

32 jars of green beans

grape jelly, strawberry jelly, and peach butter

sweet pickle relish

41 bags of corn.

Still have banana peppers, butternut squash and spaghetti squash
to work on this week.  Then I'll take a couple weeks break...
then it will be applesauce and apple rings and apple pie filling.
Then after the first frost...persimmons!!!!

Oh and we also had a HUGE 2 day yard sale.
So nice to have gotten rid of a lot of stuff and
made a little $$$ too.

Well that catches me up on the last month.
Hoping soon to be back in the sewing room...
if I can remember where it is!!!
Glad you stopped by, hope to see you again soon :)

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry
