Yes, Spring Is Here!!!

The first sign that Spring has arrived to my little corner of the world
would be the delicate little purple flowers in the front flower bed.

Second sign of Spring here
 is the tote of baby chicks
in my sewing room!!!

Only 9 new chicks to add to the flock this year.
Cute little things, aren't they?

Have a Great Week!!!

Snow Scenes From Around My Town

We ended up with about 8 inches of new snow
from this latest snow event.
Here's what it looks like in my neck of the woods...

I would imagine that this is probably our last big snow event for this this season.
I must say I have enjoyed all the snow, but I'm also ready for Spring and flowers and
 gardening and maybe a few new baby chicks...

Have a Blessed week.
Hugs,
Terry

This Week's Snowfall...

I couldn't resist posting some more winter pictures.
I know a lot of you are tired of winter, but I think it
is beautiful.  There is beauty in every season.
 Fall use to be my favorite, all the brilliant colors and
 the crisp air and wonderful smells, but in the past few years
winter has become my favorite.  I've been calling it the Sparkle Season
 or saying that the snowfall is God's glitter :)

 My chickens are not at all impressed with the cold, wet, white stuff...
It will take more than some water and chicken feed to
coax them out of their straw filled house.

 But the goats are loving it!!!  They have been
running and jumping and having a ball in the snow.

And then there is Gizmo...He's like, "yeah, right,
whatever....just bring me my food,
cause I'm not leaving this warm straw filled comfort"

Now we move on to the scenery around my yard

  This is looking out my sewing room window.
I have a snow awning...Love it!!!!

Stay warm and enjoy every season.
Be it weather seasons or seasons of life,
there is beauty all around us.

Additions To The Family...

....Additions to my feathered backyard family :)
I have purchased 14 baby chicks to add to my
family of chickens.  Of course right now they are in the house..
Because they are way too small to be outside and
it's still too cold here!!!

Having chicks in the house gives a whole new meaning
to the phrase, "Going to bed with the chickens"  LOL
Anyway I am so very much enjoying watching these little babies
grow and play.  They change in appearance and size daily.
When I purchased them last week they were all fuzzy
little ball s of down, but now they are developing actual feathers.
Oh and 2 of them have found their wings...
so I have to keep a top on their tote :)

Oh, By The Way...rumor has it that there may be some little goats joining
my backyard fun later this Spring :)

Hugs,
Terry

Winter Storm - January 2014

Thought I would share some pictures of last month's
winter storm...some called it a blizzard, but it was
not a blizzard, LOL.  Just heavy snowfall and
a little wind.  Far from a blizzard!!!

This looking out to our front yard.
The snow was coming down pretty good at this point.

Looking down the lane that our
driveway takes off from.

Grape arbor in the backyard.

Backyard swing, not looking very
welcoming right now.

Pine trees in the backyard loaded
down with snow!!!

This was taken in town...
the day the roads were closed.
The day that my dear husband decided
I should learn to drive my 4 wheel
drive in snow!!!

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Our December Snow

Here are some shots of our snow that
arrived after Christmas.
All of these were taken around my yard.

And this is how we stay all warm
and cozy during these cold Indiana winters.
 Love the wood heat,
 especially since all the mess and smell
 is outside.

From the sounds of the weather broadcast tonight...
we are in for some more of the white stuff
over the next 2 - 3 days.
This girlie will be staying inside,
with plenty of sewing and card making
to keep her busy and of course
drinking hot tea and cappaccino!!!

Warm, Cozy Hugs To All,
Terry

Today's View

Today was a typical Indiana Fall day.
The sun was shining...while dark clouds rolled in.
This picture is looking out my back door.
Cool temps, Bright colors,
Thoughts of Pumkin Spice Coffee.
My kind of day:)

Newest Backyard Visitors

Living in a rural area I am fairly use to different kinds of
wildlife visitors to my backyard, rabbits, raccoons, fox, deer, possums, coyote, skunks.  I am also accustom to an occasional visit from
 a neighbors cat or dog...
But these visitors came as a bit of a shock even to me.

These are not wild turkeys, those I am also use to seeing around the yard.
No these are tame turkeys...so I'm thinking...
"Hello, Thanksgiving & Christmas"
Okay so I'm kidding, these little darlings belong to a neighbor:)
I didn't know the neighbors had turkeys.
Anyway as I said they are tame...
VERY TAME!!!!!

They followed me all the way to the back door.
So of course I gave them some bread...
Well when the bread ran out they let me know about it!!!

They jumped up on the grill and started talking
to me through the back window where I was doing dishes.
Too Funny:)

You just never know what may show up in my backyard...
I'm still thinking about Thanksgiving & Christmas (hehehehe)

Love & Hugs,
Terry

"SEWING UP" April...

Good-bye to April.
Thought I better finish up my April posts,
so here is a little of this & and a little of that.

First is the April Dear Jane Secret Pal gift
that I received...I actually  received it a couple weeks ago,
but I forgot to share.

Beautiful fabric, which is actually double the size shown.
I may need to share this with some near and dear
to me, who also has chickens in her kitchen:)
Now to figure out what to make, ummm...
Another super great Red Barn pattern, and
a wonderful April digi card:)
I am so blessed to have such an awesome Secret Pal:)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next is a picture of the my design wall with
the blocks from the Red & White block swap
of which I was participant....
I am considering black sashings and borders
for this one...thinking that black will really make them "pop".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My April Mug Rug

These are so addictive to make
and soooo very easy & quick.

Take & Go Sewing Kit
and
Needle Case

I have wanted to make this sewing kit "purse" for about 3 years now.
Ever since my Secret Pal made one for me .  (Thanks You Susan)
Finally I sat down and did it!!!  The envelope needle case I have made before.

Here they are open.
I am trying to get a "Gift Stash" created.
So when I need a gift quickly, I might have one on hand:)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And last, but not least some visitors
to my backyard this morning.
The BlueJays were feasting this morning.
They must have called a corporate meeting:)
I counted 17 out there at one time, but
couldn't get them all in one picture.
 And then Woody Woodpecker
came and scared all the Jays away.
Don't forget you should be able to click on
each picture to get a better view.
Well that's it for April...
see you in May :)
Hugs & Blessings,
Terry
A Sunday Stroll...
Today has turned out to be a beautiful day.
Just a bit of a chill in the air, but still a beautiful day.
I thought I would invite you to take a stroll around
my yard with me, and get a peek at what is going on around here.
Flowers from the front of my house.
We have some early bloomers
due to the very early warm spell we had.
And in the backyard the Goldfinch
                                     have returned for dinner.
                                    I Love watching the birds.
                                   Their colors are so brilliant!
                                   I have been blessed to have many
                                 different birds visit my yard.
                               Their songs are so sweet
                                and they bring me much joy.
At the garden, these young ladies decided to take a short cut...
They are welcome to cut through,
but once the garden is planted and growing
they best not decide to snack on anything...
or my Thanksgiving bird will be a freeby this year!!!
(Don't forget you can click on the pictures to enlarge for better viewing)
Hope you are having a blessed Sunday
and that the coming week is filled with much joy.
Hugs,
Terry
