Catch Up Time...Again

Wow, it has been almost a month since my last entry!!!
My sister-in-law pointed that out to me yesterday,
thank you Miss Janet :)
So here goes...it has been a busy month in many different directions.

First of all my brother is moving to Florida  :(
That in itself is very hard for me, we have not been apart
for many years, but I understand that he needs to make this move.
He has been raising Lady Gouldin Finches, but
he didn't they would make the move well
so he gave them to me....

So I have 9 of these little beauties.  I had not had them a week
when two decided it was time to mate...

So they have been separated and a nesting box set up.
The male did all the nest building.  I provided him with
coconut hair and he did a fine job.

Then the female laid 1 egg a day for five days.
They look like jelly beans :)

Now we wait for about 3 weeks and hopefully 5 little finches will hatch out!

My brother also gave me a pair of Cordon Blue Finches.

Now besides these cutie pie indoor birds, I also
was given a new rooster, Richard and 2 new hens.

They are now adjusting to their new home :)

Next up is updated pictures of the kittens

Miss Lucy

Simba

Tiger & Dot
So much fun watching them grow and play.
The other 5 have new homes :)

Now for the work part of the past month...
The Garden = Canning & Freezing...OH MY!!!

24 jars of salsa

32 jars of green beans

grape jelly, strawberry jelly, and peach butter

sweet pickle relish

41 bags of corn.

Still have banana peppers, butternut squash and spaghetti squash
to work on this week.  Then I'll take a couple weeks break...
then it will be applesauce and apple rings and apple pie filling.
Then after the first frost...persimmons!!!!

Oh and we also had a HUGE 2 day yard sale.
So nice to have gotten rid of a lot of stuff and
made a little $$$ too.

Well that catches me up on the last month.
Hoping soon to be back in the sewing room...
if I can remember where it is!!!
Glad you stopped by, hope to see you again soon :)

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Happenings of the Past Week

First is the quilt block I made for the
August Quilt Block Lotto drawing.
Don't know who the winner will be but whoever should have
very pretty quilt when all is said & done.

Next event of the week was my grandson
removing a bush that was trying to over take
the back walkway.  He has worked his heart out
on this "monster" bush:)  And it looks so much
better already...can't wait until it is completely gone and
I to do some landscaping there.

Mid-week we decided to give Chinese take out a try...
Very tasty :)  We will definitely do that again.

The garden gave us quite a batch of green beans:)
I was able to can 15 jars...from the looks of the garden
I should get another 15 by the end of this week:)

And to finish the week off I did get all my card swaps done:)

We also did get our first week of school completed:)

Very productive week.
Thanks for stopping by.
See you again soon.

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Grapes and More Grapes

This the first year that our grape vines
have produced...and I am very happy with
them.  Next year should be even better:)

This quite a large bowl,
which I ran though my Dear Grandmother's colander.

After  smashing them,
cooking them,
squishing them,
ladling them into jars,
and processing them.
I came up with....

12 jars of Grape Jelly!!!
Yes, I am very happy :)

Still have green beans left to harvest
and blackberries & raspberries
in the freezer to work with.

Check back in for more
"canning progress".

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Canning, Canning, and More Canning

Last week was a very productive canning
week for me:)  More tomatoes and peaches
are now safely tucked away for the winter.

This is about a third of the tomatoes
that went into the pot...

and were cooked for 2 hours to become Salsa.

Then I turned to the peaches...

These sweet peaches became

Peach Honey and Peach Jam and...

Spiced Peaches :)

So today I took the day off and spent the afternoon at
a dear friend's house in her pool and chatting while
swinging on her porch swing :)

Tomorrow, I will be back to canning
and then Card making :)

Have a blessed week.

Hugs,
Terry
