The best gift of all was finding out that my Secret Pal is also a Christian. How Awesome is that??? Two year's in a row I have been blessed to have Christian's for Secret Pals :) Pretty cool, at least I think it is cool. I can only hope that I am as good a Secret Pal to my lady :)
"Welcome to my life"! Get a cup of hot tea, pull up a chair and visit for a while. Check in from time to time and see what I'm up to.

January Dear Jane Secret Pal Gifts Arrived!!!!
This evening when I finally made to the mailbox, and boy am I glad I did get to the mailbox, I found a package from my new Dear Jane Secret Pal. Such wonderful gifts there were in the box:) A beautiful hanging cross, which has now found a place right over my computer. A big yellow M&M tin with M&Ms inside, these will be "yummy to the tummy" *grin* She said she chose Yellow to send some Sunshine my way, how very sweet. There was also a really cute box called The Power of Prayer. This little box is filled with awesome Bible inspired encouraging thoughts. These will come in very handy, so they will be staying right here on my desk next to my keyboard!!! And to top it off...my gifts were wrapped in 1930's repro FQs. How cool is that??? Well, it is really a lot more cool than you might think; you see I just decided in the past month to start collecting the 30's repro fabric - now how did she know??? The gift box also included a lovely card with a wonderful little letter :) I found myself really wondering who my Secret Pal might be...but that won't be known, to me, until December!!!

Hi Terry,
Regarding being a Christian? I'm glad you found enough evidence to convict me. 8)
All the best,
Susan
Hello again, Terry,
I make my quilts for the USO's "United Through Reading" program at the DFW Airport. All the soldiers going on R&R from Iraq and Afghanistan going to or from points west of the Mississippi River go through DFW. There is one R&R flight every day. The "United Through Reading" program allows soldiers with children to be videotaped reading a kid's book to their kid(s). If they have a child 2 or under, they are offered a baby blanket if one is available. Then the dvd, book and blanket are sent home to the child. The group I am co-chair of, the Blanketeers, adopted the USO as its primary charity. We did a children's book drive in October where we collected 442 new childrens books. I think we delivered 72 blankets that time.
The Blanketeers also did a group quilt in 2009 for the Pepper's & Pinatas silent auction, which helps to fund "Operation Healthy Reunions". This is a program to support service men and women as they reintegrate stateside with their families.
My personal goal for 2010 is to make one small baby quilt per month. I have 5 tops made up already, so I just have to settle down and stipple and bind them. Our group goal is to make 200 blankets (baby afghans, fleece blankets and quilts.)
My friend, Rachel, and I have only been co-chairs of the Blanketeers for a little over a year. The leadership of the group kinda got dumped on us. lol We decided right away that the group better start having/being more fun or it would DIE. To this end, we concentrated on fellowship and fun, initiating monthly "First Sunday" bees, pot-luck project days, quilt show outings and LOTS of laughs.
Sorry to keep going on and on like this, but you asked about one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and the core group of Blanketeers have become my best friends.
All the best,
Susan
