Winter Interlude
O.J. Robertson
In a red topcoat
And black cravat
On a snowy bough
A cardinal sat,
A flame of fire
In a frame of white.
The bird was a thrill
To sound and sight
When he fluffed his feathers
And sang for me
A beautiful scarlet melody.
Then spreading his wings
He flew away,
Never knowing
He had made my day.
