More From Christmas

Here are some awesome gift wrapping ideas.
I would love to say I did these, but I did not...
my daughter, Jennifer was the creator.

First is Lego Man & Mrs Snowperson.
Each is made up of 4 individual
presents.  Samson (the cat) is the
guardian of the gifts.
Next is the reindeer and angel gifts.  Each of these is made from 2 gifts.

And here they are all together.
They were the hit of Christmas morning.

And here are some of the gifts I received this year.

This is the beautiful jewelry box my dear
husband had made for me.  Love it !!!
Also gave me the money to get a canary,
once the weather warms up.

These wonderful goodies were from my
dear sister-in-law, who always spoils me :)

And all the rest of these great gifts were from
Secret Santas from the different quilting
and card making and snail mail groups I belong to.

Do you think I was feeling pretty
special and spoiled this Christmas???
You bet !!!!!

The groups I belong to have the most
wonderful, caring, sharing bunch of
women there is :)

Well that's all for today.
Back tomorrow with more
catching up :)

Terry

Hershel - The Elf On The Shelf

We went out and bought our Christmas tree,
set it up in it's stand and let it stand over night,
you know, to let the branches fall.
And what did we find in our tree the next morning....
you guessed it, "Hershel" !!!!!

So we became the hosts for this little mischievous character
through the Christmas season...

Now for the most part Hershel was a pretty well behaved guest.
Sometimes we would find him just hanging around...

Or just sitting and watching the goings on of the house...

But, one day, oh my, one day,
I hesitate to think about it,
just brings chills to my bones, ahhhhh
 he committed the ultimate crime...

You guessed it...Hershel touched my sewing machine....
Oh My Gosh, I just about had the Big One !!!!
Ahhhhhh, Grrrrrrrr, Bad, bad, bad move.

So I promptly put Dear Hershel into a lengthy Time Out!!!
'Cause nobody touches MY sewing machine.

Hershel now knows not to touch THE Machine.
So if he can remember that,
he is welcome to come back again to spend
Christmas with us :)

The grand kids had a ball with our Christmas visitor.
And truth be known...so did Grandma :)

November Doll Quilts

This is the lovely quilt I received from Pamela.
The quilt shows  the Seminole Quilting Style.
Pamela also included the history of Seminole Quilting, which
was very interesting to me, since I love history.
And as an added extra she sent me some very pretty fabric:)
Many thanks to her for the wonderful quilt:)

The red and cream quilt and pillow pin cushion are the November items that I sent to Pamela.
The theme for November was "Use at least one solid".  Pamela had said she liked red and cream together so....she got red & cream.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love the
Doll Quilters Monthly Group...
They are an awesome bunch of talented
and oh so friendly ladies.
So very glad I found them:)

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

First Two Days of November...WOW!!!

These first 2 days of November have brought me 2 very wonderful gifts in the mail:)  First my wonderful Dear Jane Secret Pal sent me these black & orange wrapped gifts and what was inside...A great tote pattern using charms to make it, and a beautiful charm pack.  And of course a very pretty digi card.  She is such a wonderful blessing to me.  Every month her gifts and letters truly bring me much joy.

 I also received a beautiful Doll Quilt from my October swap partner over at the Doll Quilter's Monthly group.
I love the fall colors and her handwork is perfect.  She also included the cutest Thanksgiving pin, Mickey & Minnie pilgrims.  She picked it up on her ecent visit to Disneyland.  It is so cute:)  The quilt is now being used a table topper on my dining room table, and the pin is on my jacket.

Quilter's are just the best, most caring and giving group of people you can become friends with...I feel so blessed to have all my "quilty" friends.

And last of all I did get my 5th Women of the Bible block done.
This one represents Rebekah.

Well that's all for tonight.  I have lots to accomplish this weekend, so I should have lots to blog about come Monday or Tuesday:)  Come back and visit soon :)

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

October Doll Quilt Swap

I was able to join a new quilt swap group...
yes, I know just what I needed, another swap :)
I just can't help myself...
But this one is a Doll Quilt Swap Group.
Just one little doll quilt a month

So this is my first month to swap
and this is the doll quilt I made.
Since it has arrived at it's new home,
I can share the pictures now.

Front
I love this star block, I think it may be one of
my top ten favorite quilt blocks.
Love the little star inside the big star.
The name of the block is Carolyn's Star.
I found it over at www.quilterscache.com

Front & Back
Perfect time of the year for my favorite
colors - Fall.  Fall colors just give me
a warm, cozy feeling.
Think I may need to make myself one of these :)

Oh...did I mention I just had to make this
little scarecrow doll to go with it.  She is just
too stinkin' cute...look at that face...it just makes you smile:)

Thanks for stopping by.
See you soon:)

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Fabrics for Women of the Bible Quilt

Some people have asked if I have certain fabrics
picked out for this quilt, or if I am pulling random
fabric a block at a time???

I chose the above fabrics for the quilt.
Since the quilt is called "Women of the Bible" I
wanted to go very feminine.  And I have always wanted a
yellow & blue quilt, I've just added the green, brown,
and white for some "pop" here and there.
So there you have it, "my" fabrics and the "why" behind them:)

Back to work, I have so much on my plate right now...
all fun stuff, just need more time.

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Women of the Bible Quilt Blocks

Block #3 is Hagar.

Block #4 is Lot's Wife.

Our next block will represent Rebekah.

I am very much enjoying making these blocks,
but even more joy is coming from the study of each
woman.  Trying to understand what made these women
react they way they did, learning of the culture of this time,
and realizing that I have some things in common with each
one of them.  If not right now, in the past.

Blessings,
Terry

Secret Pal Gift

My Dear Secret Pal sent me these wonderful gifts.
I always love seeing what her digi card is going to be for each month
and September's is so pretty, love the colors & design.
Then there are those adorable scissors & tweezers, which are now
in my "to go" sewing bag.  The batik fabric is one that I did not have:)
And the last 2 patterns for the Little Red Barn quilt...
I can't wait to start on this one!!!!  But...sigh... I must wait,
way to many things going right now, BUT after
the first of the year, there shall be "Little Red Barn" construction
 going on in my sewing area!

My Secret Pal is a true blessing.  And in  2 more months
she will no longer be a Secret.  Come December I will know the
identity of this lovely, caring, giving person.

Many Many Thanks to her:)

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

October Card Making

Here are the cards that I made
for the October cards swaps over at SSSD.

This month I did have a bit more variety of color...
but Fall is definitely showing through:)
Fun stuff, had a great time making these cards.
Now looking toward some Christsmas swaps :)

Newest Backyard Visitors

Living in a rural area I am fairly use to different kinds of
wildlife visitors to my backyard, rabbits, raccoons, fox, deer, possums, coyote, skunks.  I am also accustom to an occasional visit from
 a neighbors cat or dog...
But these visitors came as a bit of a shock even to me.

These are not wild turkeys, those I am also use to seeing around the yard.
No these are tame turkeys...so I'm thinking...
"Hello, Thanksgiving & Christmas"
Okay so I'm kidding, these little darlings belong to a neighbor:)
I didn't know the neighbors had turkeys.
Anyway as I said they are tame...
VERY TAME!!!!!

They followed me all the way to the back door.
So of course I gave them some bread...
Well when the bread ran out they let me know about it!!!

They jumped up on the grill and started talking
to me through the back window where I was doing dishes.
Too Funny:)

You just never know what may show up in my backyard...
I'm still thinking about Thanksgiving & Christmas (hehehehe)

Love & Hugs,
Terry

Quilty Things

Received this beautiful Mug Rug from Mary.
This is for our Fall Mug Rug Swap.

And this is what I added to it...

Yummy...Pumpkin cappaccino
and Pumpkin Spiced Oatmeal Pecan cookies.
Now this just screams Fall, doesn't it???

Next is the Women of the Bible block for last week.

The study was on Sarah last week.

This week we are studying Hagar.
I am really enjoying the study as well as the block making.

Love & Hugs,
Terry

Quilting News....

ROW by ROW SWAP

These are my rows....All mine!!!
Aren't they beautiful? Everyone did an Awesome job,
I love them all, the ladies & the rows.
HUGE "Thank You" to Angela, Carol, Pat, Cindy D, Cindy F, Linda.

This was the most wonderful swap I
think I have had the pleasure to be a part of:)
I will definately be joining this again next year!
And once everyone else get their rows back,
I hope to post pictures of their quilts, too.

I'm thinking I will use a dark chocolate brown
to add a narrow strip between each row and also
a narrow boarder...Then I will need something for
a wider second boarder...any ideas????

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next is my Fall/Halloween Mug Rug.
I'm not a Halloween gal, but the lady
I am sending to is, so I made her this
little happy pumpkin with candy corn
 for the swap:)  Hoping she likes it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And finally a block I made this past weekend for a
quilt making & book study, that just started.
 I have tried to do this study before, but it didn't go
to well :(  Hoping this time around will be better.
The Quilt Group is called "Women of the Bible", as
is the title of the book.  We will study one woman
of the Bible each week and make a quilt block to go with her.

Our first woman is Eve and this block is called Garden of Eden.
The group owner is Carol Honderich.  She is also the
designer of several quilt patterns and owner of  Patterns of Faith.

Wish me well on this project.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fall weather and cooler temps are here so I'm guessing
I will be posting much more quilting & sewing projects.
The garden of 2012 is now a thing of the past,
which gives me much more sewing time :)
Thanks for stopping by,
hope you come back real soon.
Hugs & Blessings,
Terry
End of August - Start of September...
To start with this is my August DJSP gift:)
Such beautiful gifts...and a very sweet note.
The embroidered blocks are going to make a gorgeous quilt!
Can't wait to start the "Little Red Barn" quilt, but I really must wait
until after the first of the year :(
I really have a wonderful Secret Pal.  I hope she
knows that she is a true blessing to me:)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Next is the quilt block that I made for a
very very special young man.  His Mama is collecting
quilt blocks and fabric from family & friends to
put together a "welcome home" quilt for him :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the "Build a Sketch" card
The New Technique card
The last card is the Different Kind of Card.
This is a pop up card.
Above is the front, and below is the inside.
