Newest Quilt finish...

Today I was able to finish this little wall hanging quilt.
It is about 27" x 36".  Made it from a fabric kit I bought quite some time ago, and finally got a round to :)

Hoping to get it in the mail tomorrow.  It is for a swap,  so I will be receiving one in return :)  Nothing better than receiving this kind of mail :)

Here is a little closer look.

Chick Update & Our Mini Farm

Well, here is our little "Mini Farm"
We have our original little chicken house,
that we completely out grew this year...
Then we added the new chicken barn and the newest
addition is the goat house.
Now if the weather would cooperate I could get
the painting finished!!!

These are the latest pictures of the new chicks.
These are our 4 little bantams...ended up
with 2 roosters in that batch, but they are so sweet and tame.
They follow the granddaughters around like little puppies :)

Three of our four Wyandotts,
someone is hiding from the camera.

Two Buff Orpingtons,
one black Araucana,
and one Red.

White Tetras, and Reds, and Wyandotts

Now here are the matriarchs of the chicken pens...
These ladies are the ones providing eggs for the household.
This is their second year with us.
Front & center is Miss Red, she is the one who started all this
chicken business; just behind her is the queen of the pen,
Blondie, who is surrounded by 3 of  her 4 ladies in waiting.

...And inside the chicken coop,
taking care of the egg laying business, is Edna.
She is a rescue chicken that one of the granddaughters
brought to Mamaw to save her from being pecked to death.

Now for the newest addition to the backyard mini farm....
Our "New Kids", sweet little pygmy goats.

Upper left corner is Darby, then Mavis has her head on top of Ellie May,
Little Scooter is in the lower right corner and Spitfire is in the lower left corner.

Here is Sir Darby, who has decided he needs a little more fiber in his diet!!!

Next we have Ellie May looking at the camera
and Mavis with her back to us...
and little Spitfire is peeking from around the corner.

This little guy is Scooter.
He is the most spoiled of the bunch :)

And this is Spitfire, being camera shy once again.

Kids with the Kids...
Fun Stuff!!!!

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Hugs,
Terry

Update on Chicks

It has been 5 weeks since the new babies came to live with us
and they have grown by leaps and bounds!
Most all of their fuzzy down has been replaced with feathers.
Admittedly they aren't quite as cute as they were...
I guess they are in that not so cute teenage time of life, LOL
But soon they will be beautiful chickens :)
And very soon they will be moving outside!!!

Above are 2 Reds, 2 Tetras, and 4 Wyandottes

Next are 2 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Araucanas...

...and last are the 4 Bantams.

Love my chicks.

Additions To The Family...

....Additions to my feathered backyard family :)
I have purchased 14 baby chicks to add to my
family of chickens.  Of course right now they are in the house..
Because they are way too small to be outside and
it's still too cold here!!!

Having chicks in the house gives a whole new meaning
to the phrase, "Going to bed with the chickens"  LOL
Anyway I am so very much enjoying watching these little babies
grow and play.  They change in appearance and size daily.
When I purchased them last week they were all fuzzy
little ball s of down, but now they are developing actual feathers.
Oh and 2 of them have found their wings...
so I have to keep a top on their tote :)

Oh, By The Way...rumor has it that there may be some little goats joining
my backyard fun later this Spring :)

Hugs,
Terry

First Completed UFO...

Here is my first completed UFO..,

These blocks were given to me by my dear
sister-in-law, and I have finally sewn them together and quilted them.
I now have this wonderful "Amish look" small quilt.

I thought the perfect spot for my new wall hanging would be
in my sewing room over the bookcase that stores and displays
my Amish books and figurines.

One UFO down...
35 to go!!!

My Quilting UFOs...Oh My!!!!

Oh My Goodness, where did all these UFOs come from?
Twenty-one, yes twenty-one of them!!!
I need to get busy, busy, busy...

No More new projects until this stack of UFOs
shrinks...well maybe just 1 or 2...
okay so there is 3 or 4 BOM
for 2014 that I "have to" take part in :)

Wish me luck.

OH NO, I just found 2 more boxes
of UFOs...That brings my total UFOs to 36!!!
Geeze, plenty for this old girl to do, now.

Winter Storm - January 2014

Thought I would share some pictures of last month's
winter storm...some called it a blizzard, but it was
not a blizzard, LOL.  Just heavy snowfall and
a little wind.  Far from a blizzard!!!

This looking out to our front yard.
The snow was coming down pretty good at this point.

Looking down the lane that our
driveway takes off from.

Grape arbor in the backyard.

Backyard swing, not looking very
welcoming right now.

Pine trees in the backyard loaded
down with snow!!!

This was taken in town...
the day the roads were closed.
The day that my dear husband decided
I should learn to drive my 4 wheel
drive in snow!!!

Hugs & Blessings,
Terry

Christmas Vacation 2013

Wow!!! Time has flown by, It's been months since my last post.
Time to catch up this blog.  So I will start with a long over due trip to Florida to
visit with my Mother and my sister and her family.  And what better time than Christmas :)

We left home on December 20th and made our way through Southern Indiana
then Kentucky, then Tennessee, then Georgia (won't ever go through Atlanta again!!!)
Made it into Northern Florida our first day on the road.

Once we were unpacked and rested, we set about some sight-seeing.
Our first tourist attraction was....LEGOLAND and Cypress Gardens.
The things that were built with legos were amazing.  Here are just a few
pictures of lego art :)

A few more attractions inside LEGOLAND...

Island in the Sky...Nope this chick did not go up in that,
Daughter and grandson did, but nope, nope, nope, not me!!!!

The people on stilts amazed me, they were walking around
better than I was!!!!  And the music was great.

Double Decker Merry Go Round,
this I did ride :)

Myself and the love of my life.

Beautiful waterfall.

Gorgeous scenery

Lego Water Show

And next we visited...

The next two pictures are of the Banyan Tree...AWESOME!!!

The gardens gave such a sense of peace and beauty.
I love the time spent there with my dear husband.

Next was CHRISTMAS EVE...
First time I have ever spent Christmas Eve on a beach.
We opted for the Gulf side.

Below is myself and my Mom.

Below is Jenn and the kids.

Christmas Eve lunch at the Sandbar restaurant.

Christmas Eve dinner was at my sister's new house.
Wonderful people + Fantastic food = Awesome evening

Above is my baby sister and her husband.

CHRISTMAS DAY...was spent at Mom's,
with once again lots of great food and wonderful family.

Mom and Charlie and David.

Uncle Buddy and Aunt Kathy

Mom and Charlie's gift from
Uncle Buddy :)

I also got to do a little shopping and sight-seeing around Lakeland.

Of course I had to visit the area scrapbook shop...

and we tried to go to the Quilting shop,
but it was closed :(

Just one of the lovely roads in Lakeland.

These 3 were daily visitors to my Mom's backyard.

I also had the privilege of meeting and having lunch with
my Mom's dear friend Jo.  She is such a wonderful lady and
she has such a sweet spirit about her.  I am thankful that my Mom
has been blessed with her friendship.

Now it's back on the road again...
homeward bound.

Coming through Kentucky it had gotten pretty cold
and the water that runs from the rock along the roadside had frozen

Bridge over the Ohio River...

Back in Indiana.  December 28th

Oh and just as a little footnote, we did not go back through
Atlanta coming home...we came home through Alabama!!!

Glad you stopped by and shared some of my vacation with me.

Hugs and Blessings,
Terry
